Q & A with Alisa Reyes From “All That”!

Did you attend the Prom?

I did not attend my own high schools prom because at the time I was shooting “All That”. Though I was blessed enough to attend a friends prom and a friends home coming. The prom I attended was in my mothers hometown in Coatesville, PA. I got to ride in a parade. It went through out the town and ended up at the entrance of the school where the prom was. It was a great honor to go to a prom and a home coming I felt like I lived through my friends a bit but with out them I would have never known what it would have felt like to go to such a grand event. Having such great friends that were understanding and allowed me to share their prom/homecoming made the fact that I didn’t go to my own prom not that big deal at all. Though I do wish I would have attended my own prom but my career was so vital to me and the memories that I had shooting All That made up for it all.

What did you learn at Professional Performing Arts High School that prepared you for your career today?

PPAS was a school for artists and working actors. It use to be the old fame school. Based off the TV show and movie FAME. I majored in musical theater. What I learned from this school is to be yourself, love yourself inside and out and most of all conquer your dreams and follow your passions. This school allowed me to attend a regular high school while traveling and pursuing my career as a teenager. They had a great program that allowed me to be tutored while on the road. Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, Claire Danes are just a few that attended my school as well.

What are you working on these days?

“All That” is currently airing because 2 million fans petitioned to get it back on the air, I have been doing reunions and convention work with some of my fellow co stars from “All That”. Katrina Johnson whom was on “All That” with me just finished shooting a new TV sitcom with me called “Grow Up Already”. I am a producer and a series regular on the show. We hope for the show to air sometime next year. Katrina and I are also working on a project together that is something fresh and exciting, that is planned to come out next year (as well). I am so excited to also be publishing my first children’s book, in honor of my mother. It is about a traveling animal. I will also be releasing my first song on I tunes called “Change”. I sang and wrote the chorus. I am working on a film that I am producing and starring in, as well. My plate is full, but I am so excited about all these great projects. I cant wait to share them with the world. 2013 is going to be a great year.

What would your advice be for the Class of 2013?

To embrace this new transition with confidence and strength. To know that we can do anything we want as long as we put forth the effort and put our minds to it. That actions speak louder then words. To treat others as they wish to be treated. To try and help at least one person a day or smile to someone that looks like they are having a bad day. Their generation is the new generation and its up to us to set forth the example and its up to them to learn from it and grow and spread the word. Believe in yourself. We can make a difference just take one day at a time and continue to put one foot in front of the other and don’t let anyone stop you of your dreams and goals. The sky is the limit reach for the stars and don’t look back. Go forward not backwards.

Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies, pastimes or charitable organizations you’re involved with.

I love doing charity work. I have worked with The Cancer Society where I was a spokesman for them since my mother had cancer. I also have worked with The United Nations, Hope for Firefighters, Make a Wish, Peace Beads, just to name a few. I love to dance, hike, sing and bowl. I have bowled in a few leagues. I also love anything that has to do with the water. I use to have a boat racing team with Super Boat International where I raced a 32 foot fountain mercury. Where I was sponsored by Dollhouse Footwear. I love to travel and spend time with my family and friends. I am a big animal lover. My cat Bootsy is my favorite she and I love to cuddle and relax while reading a good book.

danny boy 1

Name: Danny Boy

Age: 18

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

Grade Level: Graduated

  • Have you already attended the Prom?

Yeah, at a school in 2012. I had a blast. It was a real memorable experience.

  • What is your favorite memory?

My favorite memory had to be seeing all my friends dressed up and enjoying themselves. We worked hard all year and when prom arrives you know graduation is right around the corner. Everybody looked amazing and we had an amazing time.

  • What are you working on these days with your music?

I’ve been all over the place lately. Working on my new project “ADOLESCENCE” as we speak, and I think this is my greatest work ever.  I’m putting a lot of work and emotion into it, really hope people love the experience I’m  trying to give them. Other than that, I’m developing the DANNY BOY brand. I want to be way more than just an artist, I want to impact the world with my story and my mindset. I want to encourage people, especially kids and teens, to be themselves and just enjoy living life, and to follow their dreams because they have to the power to be whatever it is they want to be.

  • What is your favorite part about being a rapper?

The fans, definitely the fans. It’s an amazing feeling when somebody tells me “Your song changed my life” or “Your music got me through a tough time”. That’s the reason why I do music is to touch the people. I grew up just like most of the people who listen to my music. I’ve struggled my whole life, people told me that I was dumb for deciding to do music instead of being a lawyer or a doctor. I just use all the negativity as motivation and the fans really appreciate it. My fan base #TeamDANNYBOY Amazes everyone that they come into contact with and it’s a true blessing to have people all over the world that support you and your dream, that understand all that you’ve been through, and appreciate all the hard work you put in.

  • What would your advice be for the Class of 2013?

Don’t give up! You’re almost there. Have fun and be safe. Do your work and don’t let senioritis infect you (lol).

  • Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies, pastimes, or any organizations you’re involved with.

I do a lot. I’m heavy into art and fashion as well as music. I draw and design clothes, I have some collaborations with some clothing lines dropping throughout 2013 so be looking out for that. I read a lot so that I can learn everyday and try to better myself as a person and an artist every day. Other than that, I watch cartoons a lot (lol).

  • What made you try out for this Pageant?
    • When I was younger, I was involved in a lot of toddler pageants and competed successfully.  Now as a teen, I discovered the Miss Long Island Teen pageant. I competed for the crown in August 2012 and ended up taking home the crown that night. Having that title gave me a great chance to promote my platform called “Be You”, where I talk with teens about always being yourself and embracing who they are.  Being Miss New York Teen USA will give me more opportunities and can promote my platform over a larger geographical region.
  • Do you have a favorite memory from the Pageant?
    • My favorite memory from this pageant is the feeling when stepping out on that runway for the first time during the swimsuit and evening gown competition.  It is truly an indescribable feeling and such a bitter sweet moment that I will never forget.  The thoughts that went through my mind was, “this is my time to shine and show the judges and the audience what I got!”
  • What advice would you give girls your age on “following their dreams”?
    • My best advice to give to girls is to always be yourself and to embrace your uniqueness.  Always stay true to who you are and whatever you set your mind to, you can achieve anything!  I’m a big dreamer myself and I’ve already learned at a young age that if you work hard and truly want something, then you can do it, with hard work, determination and patience. Follow your dreams, work hard, be unique, be beautiful, and “Be You”!
  • What are some of your go-to beauty products that would be a good
    recommendation for Prom Night?

    • Even though I’ve never attended a prom yet, I can definitely share some of my go-to beauty products that I feel would be useful for any girl at prom night. First off, lip gloss! Throughout the night your lipstick will most likely wear off. Make sure you always carry an extra bottle in your purse for those quick touch ups. Secondly i’d have to say bobby pins! If something goes wrong with hair, you can always make a few adjustments to try and fix it up so you are always looking fabulous. Lastly, it would be definitely to have your favorite perfume fragrance. Throughout the night of dancing and having a good time, you always want to stay fresh with a sweet sent.  I recommend giving yourself a quick spritz!

Audrie cruz 3

  • Name: Audrie Cruz
  • Age: 19
  • Hometown: Bronx, NY
  • Grade Level: College
  • Have you already attended the Prom?

Yes I have.

  • What is your favorite Prom memory?

My favorite memory of Prom would have to be how fun my date made it. He    stood on the dance floor with me all night, and made sure I had nothing less than a great time. Prom will always be a night I will cherish and remember for a lifetime.

  • Did you attend an After-Prom Party?

I did attend After-Prom! Myself, and a small group decided to spend it on a boat. We had food and music played the whole night. We all continued the party, but also had the chance to relax and enjoy the view of the city.

Audrie cruz 2

  • What made you try out for this Pageant?

Well ever since i could remember I’ve always had a passion for modeling. I wanted to challenge myself and try something outside of the usual studio work, so i joined and the experiences I’ve had made it all worth it!

  • Do you have a favorite memory from the Pageant?

I do! The first two pageants I joined, I didn’t get the crown, but I was determined to win! By the third pageant I was prepared and i finally won the title. The feeling of finally accomplishing one of your dreams is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. When they called my name as the winner, and I walked the runway for the last time, the first thing that went through my mind was “I did it!.” I can now proudly say I am Miss Teen New York East Coast USA!

  • What advice would you give girls your age on “following their dreams”?

My biggest piece of advice I would give to the girls my age is to never give up on them!! If you have a dream, pursue it! No matter how hard or long it may take to get there, believe in yourself and never let anyone tell you, you can’t.

  • What are some of your go-to beauty products that would be a good recommendation for Prom Night?

Some go-to beauty products I would recommend would be to carry eyeshadow and lip gloss for touch ups, as well as flat shoes. Between prom and after prom, your feet will get tired from wearing heels all night, so matching flats is a must!

Q & A with DJ Rob Dinero!

We recently had a chance to speak with our favorite local DJ’s, DJ Rob Dinero!  This Bronx native, had his first big gig in the early 2000s when he began producing music for MTV and has now produced tracks for some of the biggest artists today. Some of his clients include Sean Paul, Tamia, DJ Irie, O’Neal McKnight, Pitbull, Red Fox, DJ Honda, Lord Tariq, Capleton and many more! In the past, DJ Rob has DJed many  After Prom events, especially at Crimson, one of our HOTTEST after prom parties.  To hear some of DJ Rob’s music listen for his one hour sets on The Music Channel on Cable Network. Keep reading for more information on DJ Toro!

  • Did you attend the Prom?

I didn’t attend my own school’s prom, but was invited, and went to a prom from a different school.

  • What are you working on these days?

Right now I’m performing in plenty of clubs in NYC & across the country.  I am also working on a few musical projects that will be released soon.  You can check my website www.djrobdinero.com to keep up to date with everything that’s going on with me… It changes everyday!

  • What is your favorite part about being a DJ?

Making people enjoy themselves and have a good time is my favorite part about being a DJ.  Also, me being able to be creative with the music that I play, in a certain way, that is different from other DJ’s.

  • What would your advice be for the Class of 2012?

Definitely to be focused on what it is you want to do.  Nowadays it’s so easy to be sidetracked with things that won’t help you in the long run, so as soon as you figure out what it is that you are into, get focused on that and try to be the best you can at it!

  • Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies, pastimes or charitable organizations you’re involved with?

Of course, I’m into creating & playing music, so that takes up most of my time, but I’m pretty much into all the normal things, like go see a movie, or go to a game… Luckily, being a DJ doesn’t always feel like work, so it’s like doing something that’s fun like a hobby, but the difference is that I get paid from it…

Q & A with Miss Westchester Teen, Jacqueline Groccia!

  • Name: Jacqueline Groccia
  • Age: 15
  • Hometown: Eastchester
  • Grade Level: 10th
  • Have you already attended the Prom?

I attended Junior Formal in March and will be attending Eastchester High School’s senior prom in June.

  • What was your favorite memory from Junior Formal?

My favorite memory from Junior Formal is being around so many kids my age.  Just one big teenage funfest. Music, dancing and good memories.

  • What are you looking forward to the most about senior prom?

I am very excited to be there to celebrate the end of high school with my senior friends.  I bought a beautiful baby pink dress that I can’t wait to wear.  I have been doing a lot of work with the executive director, Noel D’Allacco, of Operation Prom who in addition to giving away prom wear to needy students, has a line of affordable prom dresses available through Promologist.com.

  • Do you plan to go to an After-Prom?

I am planning on attending an After-Prom with a group of friends. I love that The Prom Company alleviates some stress that may arise from planning After-Prom events, assuring it will be non-alcoholic, but just as fun!

  • What made you try out for this Pageant?

Going into 9th grade, I was not as confident as I knew I could be and was looking for something to bring out my girly side. I saw an ad in a local newspaper for Miss Westchester Teen and thought it would be the perfect way to keep busy over the summer and break me out of my shell; which it certainly did! After winning the Spirit Award the first year, I came back with more experience, confidence and poise to try again which is when I was crowned Miss Westchester Teen 2012.

  • Do you have a favorite memory from the Pageant?

Over the summer, the pageant directors, Dee van Eyck and Laura Giannone hosted some really fun photo shoots at a variety of different venues including salons, beach clubs and Playland. My favorite was the evening gown photo shoot at the Whitby Castle in Rye; it felt like a Teen Vogue ad – beautiful venue, gorgeous girls, and fabulous dresses, isn’t that every girls dream? The photo shoots provided the perfect opportunity to bond with the other girls before the pageant competition.  In the end we were all great friends.

  • What advice would you give to girls your age on “following their dreams”?

Confidence is the key. In order to follow your dreams,  which takes motivation and persistence, you need to be confident with yourself and your choices. Confidence will give you the strength to never give up. Being confident helped me prepare for the Miss New York Teen competition and to follow my dream of being on the big stage.

  • What are some of your go-to beauty products that would be good recommendations for Prom Night?

Primers are essential! I actually have a YouTube beauty channel, LoveAlwaysJackie where I demonstrate techniques and highlight some great products. MAC Prep and Prime for your face and Urban Decay Primer Potion are great choices for keeping your foundation and eye shadow flawless throughout the evening.  Primers will keep your make up perfect from the first photo to the last. Prom night is also the perfect occasion to wear false eyelashes.  Ardell lashes are easy to apply, and add the perfect amount of glam to any look!
