Clutch Essentials for Prom Night!

It’s prom night and you don’t want to carry around a bunch of unnecessary things! Grab a clutch that matches your dress and fill it with the following items:

alanna 1

-blotting sheets, you don’t want to look oily in pictures

-a makeup setting spray/mist, it’ll refresh your makeup

-lipgloss, pick a color that compliments your makeup/dress and you’ll be able to reapply throughout the night

alanna 2

-chapstick, just in case your lips get dry

-matte powder and travel brush, once again to get rid of shine and make your makeup last longer

-small perfume, so you smell nice all night long

-phone, an obvious one but you’ll be able to snap pictures with friends and instagram them all of course

alanna 3

Feel free to add a few other things or leave out blotting sheets if you have dry skin, etc. Hopefully this post will give you some inspiration on what to bring with you to your prom and help prevent any mishaps throughout the dance.

Summer Fitness By Emily, Miss Riverside!

Emily collage

It’s that time of the year again ladies, Yep…time to get those bodies in shape for the summer!!! With prom right around the corner, who wouldn’t want to get in the best shape for prom AND the summer. Say hello to some workout tips that will give you an idea of where to start your work out. I promise if you follow these tips you will not be let down, I am living proof!

Throughout the course of the winter I spent my days working out and eating right. I was preparing to compete for Miss New York USA and I became obsessed with fitness and being healthy. I ate clean, and exhausted my body by working out 5 days a week. (And ended up placing in Top 10!) Essentially what I did was a dramatic lifestyle change. Don’t get me wrong…it was tough, exhausting, draining and all of the above. But I was able to develop this lovely thing called Will Power! Being able to say NO to a slice of pizza when all of your friends are ordering in was definitely not my favorite thing to do, but I did it because I knew I wanted to look and feel my best.

With so many different ways to loose weight and feel good, I found it really helpful to create my own routine. If your like me you need to try different things until you figure out what works for you. I am constantly trying new things in search of the best workout. Going to the gym is great, but I get bored….quick…..SO, I usually need to take somebody with me so we can create some kind of competition at who does what best. (I’m a naturally competitive person..woops:)) Aside from getting my cardio workout at the gym, I try my best to do any of the following workouts.

Emily -Insanity-WorkoutInsanity: If you’ve seen the infomercial and heard things about his workout the name speaks for it’s self. INSANE, but effective and FAST. If you are ready to turn your life around and need a real push, this if for you.

Zumba: Is an amazing cardio exercise and a lot of fun! If you like to dance and enjoy good music gather a group of friends and join the dance party. It’ll be the most exciting work out you’ve ever done.

Kick-Boxing: If you want to see results fast and need a more structured style of working out, Kick-boxing is right for you. Not only have classes been proven to make you loose weight, they serve as an amazing stress reliever. Besides, who doesn’t need to punch something every now and then? LOL

Yoga: An amazing way to relax and create lean flexible muscles. Simply amazing. If you can tolerate heat, try Bikram Yoga. Thank me later 😉

I am also a big fan of Youtube, there are over 500 channels of workouts you can do at home. Great for anyone who was a crazy schedule but still wants to squeeze a workout in.

Stay tuned for my blog posts next week on Green Juice’s, hand picked workouts, keeping the weight off and working out in style .

Happy Sweating Dears!!

Q & A with Alisa Reyes From “All That”!

Did you attend the Prom?

I did not attend my own high schools prom because at the time I was shooting “All That”. Though I was blessed enough to attend a friends prom and a friends home coming. The prom I attended was in my mothers hometown in Coatesville, PA. I got to ride in a parade. It went through out the town and ended up at the entrance of the school where the prom was. It was a great honor to go to a prom and a home coming I felt like I lived through my friends a bit but with out them I would have never known what it would have felt like to go to such a grand event. Having such great friends that were understanding and allowed me to share their prom/homecoming made the fact that I didn’t go to my own prom not that big deal at all. Though I do wish I would have attended my own prom but my career was so vital to me and the memories that I had shooting All That made up for it all.

What did you learn at Professional Performing Arts High School that prepared you for your career today?

PPAS was a school for artists and working actors. It use to be the old fame school. Based off the TV show and movie FAME. I majored in musical theater. What I learned from this school is to be yourself, love yourself inside and out and most of all conquer your dreams and follow your passions. This school allowed me to attend a regular high school while traveling and pursuing my career as a teenager. They had a great program that allowed me to be tutored while on the road. Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, Claire Danes are just a few that attended my school as well.

What are you working on these days?

“All That” is currently airing because 2 million fans petitioned to get it back on the air, I have been doing reunions and convention work with some of my fellow co stars from “All That”. Katrina Johnson whom was on “All That” with me just finished shooting a new TV sitcom with me called “Grow Up Already”. I am a producer and a series regular on the show. We hope for the show to air sometime next year. Katrina and I are also working on a project together that is something fresh and exciting, that is planned to come out next year (as well). I am so excited to also be publishing my first children’s book, in honor of my mother. It is about a traveling animal. I will also be releasing my first song on I tunes called “Change”. I sang and wrote the chorus. I am working on a film that I am producing and starring in, as well. My plate is full, but I am so excited about all these great projects. I cant wait to share them with the world. 2013 is going to be a great year.

What would your advice be for the Class of 2013?

To embrace this new transition with confidence and strength. To know that we can do anything we want as long as we put forth the effort and put our minds to it. That actions speak louder then words. To treat others as they wish to be treated. To try and help at least one person a day or smile to someone that looks like they are having a bad day. Their generation is the new generation and its up to us to set forth the example and its up to them to learn from it and grow and spread the word. Believe in yourself. We can make a difference just take one day at a time and continue to put one foot in front of the other and don’t let anyone stop you of your dreams and goals. The sky is the limit reach for the stars and don’t look back. Go forward not backwards.

Tell us about some of your favorite hobbies, pastimes or charitable organizations you’re involved with.

I love doing charity work. I have worked with The Cancer Society where I was a spokesman for them since my mother had cancer. I also have worked with The United Nations, Hope for Firefighters, Make a Wish, Peace Beads, just to name a few. I love to dance, hike, sing and bowl. I have bowled in a few leagues. I also love anything that has to do with the water. I use to have a boat racing team with Super Boat International where I raced a 32 foot fountain mercury. Where I was sponsored by Dollhouse Footwear. I love to travel and spend time with my family and friends. I am a big animal lover. My cat Bootsy is my favorite she and I love to cuddle and relax while reading a good book.
